The "Preferences" command includes functions to customize the drawing environment for language, units and dimensioning.
Display
Background
This setting allows users to customize the preferred background color(s). Checking the gradient checkbox enables different colors to be shown in the top and bottom of the screen.
You can also select one of the default color combinations Default Dark or Default Light
Sheets
In the "Display options" you can control if sheets should be colored or not. Here in preference, you can control what color should be used.
By clicking on the button "Default sheet color" the color will be set to a predefined color.
Grips
When no command is active, and an object is selected IGEMS will show the grip points on the objects. This setting customizes the size and the color of the grips.
Cursor
This controls the size of the crosshair and the size of the selection box (Pickbox). The Pickbox is used when selecting objects and by the "Object snap".
Grid
These settings control how the grid is shown (by points or lines), the color and the distance between the grids. The grid area is the same as the limit area.
Part text properties
This is the font and color for the Part text command.
Various settings
-
Anti grain graphics
Anti grain graphics will generate the objects in a smoother way. Some people like this other not. Anti grain graphics will use more computer power.
-
Use OpenGL
The system requirement is OpenGL 2.0, but there is also possible to use an inbuild software driver. This should be used only if there is problem with the OpenGL driver.
-
3D5X Direct3D
Enables Direct3D option for 3D5X.
-
Transparent part
This will make parts transparent. I have no idea why we have done this.
-
Show NC-File on cutorder
This will show the name of actual CNC-file at the cutorder after you have postprocessed the job.
-
New selection system
Enables the new selection system
-
Filled reports
If parts should be color filled in reports.
-
Run report script
This toggle should be activated. If you are developing customized script and it's an error in the script, then it is not possible to generate the report. If you uncheck this option then the report will be generated without the script.
-
Report plot style
Default you should use the <report> plot style. You can generate new plot style from the Plot command
Ortho and snap
These settings control the "Ortho" and the "Auto snap".
General
-
Undo steps
This is the number of Undo/Redo steps that will be possible to make. Default number is 20. Increasing the value may slow down the system on large drawings.
-
Auto Save
When working in an unstable environment it can be helpful for IGEMS to automatically save the drawing in a timed interval. If the value is 0 then the function is disabled. You can open an auto saved drawing from the Recover command.
-
Language
The language will automatically be set to the same language of the operating system but can also be changed here. If that language is currently not yet supported IGEMS will default to English.
-
Unitless drawings
Some files (WMF, DXF and DWG) have no information about units. This setting controls which format these files should be converted to. If the setting is "Same as units" then it will be converted to the actual setting of IGEMS.
-
Shared folder
The shared folder includes all settings that can be shared with other users in the same network (machine settings, material settings, post processor settings, etc.).
To change the location of the shared folder, press the "…" button and select the folder to use.
Note! If an empty folder is selected, then all information in the current folder will be copied to the new folder. If a non-empty folder is selected, nothing will be copied.
-
Use catching of shared folder
If the shared folder is located on a server and IGEMS feels slow because of this then you can activate this checkbox. IGEMS will then store the files in memory and just reload files if they have been changed on the network. This will speed up IGEMS.
-
Transparent images
When "Copy" and "Paste" are used to copy geometry in IGEMS, an image is created that can be inserted into other documents. This setting defines whether the background of this image should be transparent or not.
-
Expert user
If this setting is activated, then the user can change machine and material settings. If not then following message will be shown when user try to change this settings.
-
Use file locking
IGEMS are using Windows standard file locking system. If file locking is activated and you open a file, then this file will be locked. It's not possible for another user to open this file as long as it is open by you.
-
Reverse zoom
IGEMS require a wheel mouse for zooming in and out. By checking this option, you reverse the direction of the mouse.
-
Save compressed files
IGEMS drawing files has extension the ".DIG". If this option is activated, then IGEMS will save information as compressed files. We recommend that this option always should be activated.
-
Force file preview
If it's deactivated IGEMS will only show previews of DIG-files in the Open dialog. When its activated IGEMS will show preview of all supported files.
The reason why we have this toggle is that IGEMS can feels slow because all files must be open internally to generate the pictures. If you think its lazy uncheck this option.
-
Floating license timeout
If you have a floating license, then IGEMS will often be in contact with the server. If the network is very slow you may need to increase this value.
