The Image Tracer command converts raster images into vector line and arc segments automatically. This is essential for converting scanned drawings or images into editable CAD geometry.
🔹 How to Use
- Activate the command: Select Image Tracer from the toolbar.
- Open image: Use Open button to select PNG, JPG, or BMP file, or double-click on inserted image.
- Adjust settings:
- Threshold: Control image brightness/contrast
- Blur: Smooth edges (use Reset to undo)
- Invert: Swap black/white areas
- Choose scanning type:
- Centerline: For scanned pen drawings (traces center of lines)
- Outline: Creates outlines around black areas
- Process image: Click OK to convert image to vector geometry.
🔹 Advanced Options
- Zoom and Pan: Navigate the image like the main drawing area.
- Optimize: Reduce image resolution to match current screen zoom level.
- Smoothing: Create smoother results during conversion.
🧠Tips
- Centerline vs Outline: Use Centerline for scanned drawings, Outline for filled areas.
- Threshold adjustment: Fine-tune to get the right balance of detail vs noise.
- Follow-up processing: Use Curvefit command afterward for smoother geometry.
- File size optimization: Use Optimize to reduce drawing file size.
